Foul and a miss question

Say I pot a red and wish to play a safety shot into the baulk area and nominate yellow. Even though I can hit the yellow directly I fail to do so and it is a foul and miss. The balls are replaced, I play same shot and it is again foul and miss. Am I now allowed to go for a different shot, say green? If I miss again is it then forfeit frame?

At any time you can change the colour you go for; if you miss the third time after the third replace of balls, forfeit the frame.

But of course you can only lose a frame for three consecutive F&Ms if there is "central full ball contact" available. If you can only see part of a ball on, or are totally snookered, a F&M can only be called whilst there are enough points on the table for both players to win both before and after the shot.
