Space required for a full size table

Hi,

I'm about to buy a full size snooker table but I have one little problem, I don't have quite enough space.
Most sites state that 670*488cm is the minimum room size. The room I'm planning to use is 850*465. But it's 465 wide in only one end of the room elsewhere it's a lot wider. So what I was planning to do is to place the table so that D is in the narrow end of the room and black in the area with more space because thats where the game is played
I just wanted to ask if someone has played in a room too small and how did it affect your game. I guess making one cue little shorter will allow you to play as normally in all places.

A snooker table is 13ft by 7ft and I would say that you need a 5ft clearance around the table (approx cue length), so the room size would need to be 18ft by 12ft. Ideally the should be biggar than this just to make it more comfortable.

If it states somewhere that ideally you want 488cm and the narrow end having the baulk area is 465cm then I really don't see a problem. Look at 23cm on a ruler, split in two so that's 11.5cm either side of the table. That's about 10% of your backswing horizontally. Naff all - especially if it only comes into play when you're tight on the side cusion and are playing across the table.

When I was a kid I had to use a 2ft cue at a 45° angle on all sideways shots on my 6x3

I don't mean to be pedantic but shouldnt that be 23' by 17'? The cue clearance is needed at both sides, so that's an extra 10'. Although you could probably get away with 22' by 16' since you only really need cue clearance around the baize.

Gere, in my opinion your room (15'3" by plenty for those of us, myself included, who still can't speak metric) should be just wide enough. You'll certainly notice the wall on occasion but you could probably cue down to avoid the wall when those situations come up. You might want to get yourself a 4'6 cue for the really awkward shots, just to give a bit of room for your backswing (blue across the table fom centre pocket area would probably come up most, if that's not in the bigger half of the room).
