  • Oversized tip

On UNDERSTANDING MODERN SNOOKER WITH JACK KARNEHM he mentioned that some players like to use an oversized tip and file it down so it fits the cue. He said about using a 11mm tip instead of a 10 or 9.

For what reason would someone do this?

    - Easier to apply than a tip of exactly the same size as your cue.

    - Some players leave the "over hang" and play with a mushroomed tip

Yes I am wondering why they do this though.

Hey Danbo... here is a cool page of snooker "tips"... about halfway down is the answer to your "mushroom" question.
