• Congratulations Lindea. They are indeed the players who have won a ranking tournament on the Emerald Isle: Mark J. Williams in the Irish Open in 1998; Ronnie O'Sullivan in the Irish Masters in 2003 and 2005 and Peter Ebdon in 2004; and of course now Ding Junhui.

    ROUND SIXTY-TWO

    Anyone?

What is the lowest highest break in a Crucible match, of a player who won that match?

You will get no extra points but lots of appreciation if you also say who it was, who his opponent was and in which year.

• Did I miss something in my absence? Has Belfast become a city of Ireland?

Not the country of Ireland, but the island of Ireland. It's a bit Irish I know .

I knew mine was wrong, this one has been before on the quiz, but completely forgot the answer.

Therefore the answer given by lindea was wrong. it should have been the isle or ireland. not irish tournament!

                • Ah well, you'd have a debate on your hands there. I'd still say 'Irish' can refer to something of Northern Ireland as well as the ROI. Northern Ireland is a bit of Ireland after all, otherwise it's name would be pretty silly (even if that does make Paisley unhappy).

The dictionary says Irish means 'of Ireland', which really isn't very helpful at all.

                  • Statman has gone into hiding on this one.

                    • And Statman has also forgot to delete his previous question when posting the results table. He already asked this question in round sixty. Hegeland is correct, but then again, it's a little easier considering the answer has already been provided

I didn't know that!! I swear! I am always 100% honest with these things. I haven't checked this thread in ages.

                        • It's ok Hegeland, I believe you, thousands would'nt

I still can't believe that in a best of 19 match, the (lowest) highest break is 34.

                            I haven't done it again have I?

                            Must be more careful.

                            ROUND SIXTY-WHATEVER

Who was Fred Davis's last opponent in the World Championships, and also, who was the last opponent whom Fred Davis beat in the World Championship?

Both in one post (and no others), for a correct answer.

                            • His last match was against Dean Reynolds in 1982 and lost 10-7.
In 1979 Fred won his last match against Kirk, "Mr. White Suit" Stevens 13-8.

                              • I thought his last match was against Werbenuick, So I shall say that but copy the Kirk stevens answer for last man he beat.
