  • Ssb - stephen lee: Wpbsa statement

The WPBSA has released the following statement in the wake of Stephen Lee's arrest by police as part of a match fixing investigation:

"We are aware of the recent news articles concerning match fixing and are awaiting further reports.

"In instances where the Gambling Commission commences an investigation into a match, the WPBSA works together with the Commission to assist in its enquiries and the WPBSA will hold its own investigation open pending the conclusion. However, neither the Commission nor the WPBSA will release information surrounding a betting matter while an investigation is ongoing."

What a total D--K H--D. As if snooker has not got enough problems. I hope if he is found guilty, he is banned from the sport for life. The same goes to Burnett and Maguire, if either of them are found guilty, Ban them for life.

I use to think snooker was a gentlemens sport. Now we are finding corrupt individuals, like in other sports. The only way to treat this people, if found guilty. Is banning them for life from their sport.

If Maguire/Burnett get away with it, he's got nothing to worry about.

Well said, I couln't agree more. Innocent until proven guilty, but throw them out if real evidence of match fixing is found, just like in Quinten's case...

don't get me wrong i like Q and he was a massive talent but what he was really guilty of was being a silly ego maniac! (or an australian as they are also known)

i think its very wrong when newspapers entrap people - the police can't do that.

Yes, I hope the investigations of Maguire and Burnett is finished soon, it´s sad for the game and the players that they have to wait for soo long.
