  • Original BBC Snooker theme

Has anyone got a link to a WAV version of this tune, or a way to convert it to WAV?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh1RI...eature=related

I hate the updated snooker theme and even more so Blade's take on it.

I've grabbed the audio from the YouTube link and encoded it as WAV for you.

        I've uploaded it here:

        http://www.2shared.com/file/5378273/...BBC_Theme.html

Click on the "Save file to your PC: click here" towards the bottom right.

Hope this helps, and I've not misunderstood what you're after!

Heh, I don't think it matters too much I've not downloaded yours but the quality may well (Or at least should be considering file size difference) better... Mine is 352 kbps 16bit 22kHz mono... But considering the stream is from YouTube I cannot imagine the actual source being excellent... Again, not that I've ever looked at what YouTube stream the audio at.

              Either way, it's audible

It is Drag Racer, and has become synonymous with snooker coverage in the UK. It was written and performed in 1976 by the Doug Wood Band, the year before the World Championship found its Crucible home.
"If anybody can knock these three balls in, this man can."
David Taylor, 11 January 1982, as Steve Davis prepared to pot the blue, in making the first 147 break on television.

Thanks for the info, always wondered who it was by, just knew it was by a band!

I had no idea that it wasn't written specifically for snooker, it just fits so well! A far cry from the rubbish we have now! Odd thing is, during the breaks between sessions, they play the old BBC theme. Weird.

Same thing with F1, the theme is the ending of 'The Chain' by Fleetwood Mac.

I really don't know why they remixed it, there was nothing wrong with the old theme.

Exactly. They left the F1 theme alone, Match of the Day is still as it always was and so are most other sports. Why ruin a perfectly good theme that captured the essence of the sport to its max!

Still love the original theme. Was it really written for snooker?
