Daryl Peach is at 9 - 9, having won the last rack. He has a good chance to win it now, if he has a bit of luck with the break.

Then again, I just realised it's first to 17 and not first to 11.

Agreed, Peach has beaten some really big names out there. So he must be doing very well.

England's Daryl Peach captures 2007 World Pool Championship title

MANILA, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- England's Daryl Peach has captured the coveted 2007 World Pool Championship title, beating Filipino qualifier Roberto Gomez Sunday night with a nerve-rocking 17-15 victory at the Araneta Coliseum in the capital region of Metro Manila.

Peach triumphant victory became the first Englishman to win the world pool championship crown. Besides the silver cup, Peach will be taking home 100,000 U.S. dollars, while Gomez, the runner-up, gets 40,000 U.S. dollars. The semifinalists - Vilmos Foldes of Hungary and Karl Boyes of England - will get 20,000 U.S. dollars each.

"There was pressure. It was an amazing match ever for me. But Ijust kept my head at still and focus on the game and take one shot at a time," said the 35-year-old Peach.

The tournament was staged by Matchroom Sport, which owns the franchise, and by the World Pool Association in the Philippines for the second year in a row and will also be here in 2008.

                  Well Done Peachy.

he puts a lot of work inot 9 ball, and his own "game".

deserved winner, and some great "scalps" along the way.

Can't wait to see some of the matches, gutted to have missed it all. Hopefully it will be avalable for download like last year.

Daryl Peach world champion, that's a shocker, isn't it? I always thought one of the players from eastern europe would win it.

have to say, even though i follow it closely, it is a shocker. "always" had the game to beat the top players but to do it when it mattered, on the big stage is a big leap in consistency.
