Marcel Proust had an haddock! If you're calling the author of 'A la recherche du temps perdu' a looney, I shall have to ask you to step outside!

            • You know how it says "wash with similar colours" on those irritating little lables in your clothing?

              Well, do.

I've been doing my laundry for close to 20 years now, and have for the first time in that not so short time done the unthinkable. I have an interesting looking "new" set of bedsheets now, not bad actually, but heck...

Aww Miss, I feel for you. I've done the same thing before...why does it always seem to happen with bedsheets? I've had several interesting looking sets of bedsheets through the years, due to dark coloured stray socks...
But why do they end up there in the first place??

                • I think socks are among the most cunning of garments. A big factor as well is that they can often get tangled up in the bedsheets when they get kicked off frantically!

Indeed Rotty, I think they are, I believe they even have their own planet, which they share with lighters, buttons and biros. Sölvi, they might be out for world domination. Witness the discolouring of other garments... I'm telling you, there's a conspiracy if I ever saw one. They probably smuggle themselves into the sheets....

                    • Hi ladies ! Socks, you don't have to worry about socks if you don't want to : you buy the lowest priced socks you can find in the supermarket and you just throw them away after you used them . Think of the advantages : every day new (cheap) socks, no need to wash them,etc....
I saw that going differently in my mind

                      • you missed the point Wim even those socks will eventually somehow sneak their way into the laundry (and then bleed out even more, due to newness and cheapness)... it's a can't win situation...

oh, and if I am alreay posting: having a day off after all that streneous vacationing...

                        • lol snookersfun - I see you are a believer in the sock-conspiracy-theory as well

And days off after the hols are essential, I think, for one's general well being

yes true SF but some discipline and/or rituals are needed : for example in winter you can home and the 1st thing you do is throwing them in the fireplace - and in summer you could considering not to wear socks.

that might at least hinder them to do what they like best apart from bleeding out in the wash: seperate!

I realise I am still too hooked on Harry Potter, imagining throwing things into a fireplace, I see the socks apparating via the Floo Network in someone else's laundry....
