I cant see that Jim , Mast cues are i think more sought after than T W cues but cost a lot less when they were made . I have one that prob cost around £ 250 when it was made but have been offered £ 500 for it . A good cue should not depreciate in value and if anything should gain value as long as its in good condition to the same value as the current new ones cost or even more if its really nice and sought after .

I'm with Jim here. I really don't see how cues don't depreciate with age. Collectable antique cues maybe but modern day cues from any of the top cue makers should not be valued at what they cost now if the cue is 10 years old etc. How can the price of the cue increase when it was purchased for much less?!!!?!?!?!

You look at any of the cues from top makers and very few will loose value , they usually go for more than what they were bought for as long as the condition is good . That may have a lot to do with people not wanting to wait 6 months plus for a new one , but the top ones always hold their value if not increase .

Then people are idiots to pay that price then. The likes of Fedia have a lot to answer for as well because people like him and other traders inflate the market. I remember and have seen some great bargains on Ebay for cues as well as other gear in the past. However like most things that has become a business now for people to make money.

For instance I bought a mastercraft cue about 7 months ago, with 4 splices of snakewood with veneers, I paid £220 for it. Mastercraft put their prices up about a month ago, that cue now would probably cost around near £300, however I wouldn't ask or expect that for it simply because I don't see why their price increase should mean my cue increases in value. Its still the same wood, its been paid for etc. I just think that some like to tell you of the price it would cost now to increase the selling price, otherwise why mention it? Its a bit of a con IMO and I stay clear of sellers like that because, like Jim said, they are just looking to make money.

Costs of wood labour etc go up over the years, so an identical cue made 12 years ago would cost alot more today, aslong as a cue is kept in nice condition no reason why its not worth close to what a new one would cost at todays prices imo, considering alot of new parris TW Jason owen etc cues sell for more than they actually cost from the maker.

At the end of a day any item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it..
