exactly, as it can be libel / defamation even just heresay on a message board, it is still technically published and can be used against in a court of law if he reads it and decided to take further action....

That being said I do know that the woods used in the manufacture of those cues are of very good grades. I have done a little research and have found that the cost of the materials may be 50 quids at most. I stand to be corrected and I may not have an apprciation for the amount of hours into making of a custom spec but I still think that the prices paid for some are rediculous. Maybe this thread would help me understand why people would part with that kind of cash when in most cases I cannot see the difference in cues that cost a fraction of those prices.
This makes me feel happier, as I live in Thailand where there are many good cuemakers around. Good cues for money spent, and good snooker clubs for even cheaper. Thanks God

Stuart is a top bloke and his GBL cues are very good and are excellent value for money.

If, however those cuemakers were lying to us, and cues promised (or implied) to be made entirely in the UK were in fact being (even partly) made say in Thailand then we'd have every right to be ****ed off I think.
And when a top end cuemaker occasionally lets out absolute rubbish 'cause he's still riding a reputation earned more than 10 yrs ago the same applies.

fool, muggins, saphead, tomfool, sap - a person who lacks good judgment

Now I am not here to bash you for that statement. It means I come down to your level. Not very pleasant thought that.

This thread was started out to understand why these cues cost the prices they do. When I started this thread I quoted 50 quid as an approximate amount for materials. The costs of these materials are from my country South Africa where a sizeable amount attached to that price is import duties. I could break it down but from my understanding of what materials compromises a good cue I again stand by my estimation. If you would have bothered to check out the credentials of “The BOZO” as you put it I would provided them for you. Making mistakes is not in my line of work. I am an engineer you see with a masters degree in engineering and an honours degree in commerce. Costing is a significant part of my job. If you did bother to read the statement you would understand that I did say I stand to be corrected. Also the argument here is not really about cues that cost 200 or 300 quid but rather at ques that approach a 1000 quid. As for badmouthing things made in Thailand I would just like to point out that I have aquired many things made in Thailand, from my many viists there in the last 15 years. Excellent workmanship and very reasonable prices on all things made there. Finally from my understanding you seem to think that only things made in England are of any reasonable quality. Tell that to Ford and Jaguar, Land Rover and other English Brands. Oooohhhh wait. The Indians have bought out jag and Landie. Shame. Revenge of the Indians I suppose. Soon it will be the revenge of the Chinese on English cue makers. Oh well I suppose this turned out to be a bit of a bashing. At least your last statement made sense about cue makers rolling along with reputation.

Yes, GBL cues look great, and very familiar to my experience . Is the butt end padded with a thin layer of leather ? Please PM your answer to me, not here

                        Hi Unclevit,
No need PM , you're right, there is a hard layer at the end of the butt, the idea look exactly like Mike's cue(of course not mean the price). Stu told me that the layer is protect ebony.

once again, GBL is top class.

Food for eyes. Tournament Grade Shaft. This cue is in progress, by a reputed Thai cuemaker. 20 splices, using all exotic hardwoods. For those who fancy beautiful butt work. I thought the maker was going to add snakewood too, but keeps it for other cue

Actually, plain ebony would not be my cup of tea , but I don't like complicated splicing too.

Facing splice or 4 lower splices is good enough for me.

Unclvito you remeber what you promise me?
