your cues r very sexy. if i must say so myself haha yeh, looks very similar the color of the wood, and darkness of the grain. i dont think people can understand by just looking, they have to see and feel an uncle thai cue to really get an idea wat were talking about. =]
I would not worry about Unclevits reputation now as he is not prepared to commit to what he cannot deliver and he is very careful on this point. He delivers as he says. As for the grain you are right. It is the same as yours and I think very different from any other ash I have seen.

Both Unclevit and UT are great people. My cue should be finished by now but since UT still cannot get the nice cut from his supplier for my cue's front splice, I just have to wait. No biggie...

Probably will change it to "other" beautiful wood to replace the original plan. It is all up to Unclevit and UT to decide what is the best. I trust both of them.
      My cueing sucks

How many times do you want to talk about "YOUR" cues?

This is not the only thread that you're talking about "YOUR" cues already!

No one CARES about YOUR cues!

u talkin to me or brendan? i think thats uncalled for buddy, if youre talking about brendan, i dont think its neccessary. since he is talking about snooker cues on a snooker forum, i think its fine for him to update the world on his progress. speak for yourself when you say "No one CARES" cause fact is, some people do. i for one AM keeping tabs on his cue, cause i want to see how it turns out.

Oh awesome! yeh, id go with them too. they seem pretty spot on about their stuff. like Unclevit said the grain on my one wasnt that pretty, i think its lovely, with plenty of personality! haha shame not all woods are available to them for low prices. would love to see amazing use of different woods and designs. thatd b a treat!

Yeh i dont think people should expect too much from him. he does what he does well, as long as you understand he is just a very passionate snooker player trying to help others out not see him as purely a business, to make money. since he doesnt make any anyways.

Some of us enjoy looking and listening to members comments about their cues , I for one do if it irritates you that much then you dont need to read it . By the way lovely looking cue there mate , just out of curiosity the butt seems to be narrower looking than standard , looks like a shallow wedge .

cheers! yeh the butt is very slim, but i like that. i told unclevit i wanted a very narrow slim profile for my cue. dont like butts that get thick towards the end. i dont like it feeling 'different' when i move my hand up a bit, like, i hate it it if feels narrower towards the joint. the wedge is fairly shallow compared to my last cue, but, not something i really notice. its comfortable still (i have small hands- i expect a joke to be made from this..) if that what youre wondering. =]

Have you applied anything to the shaft to make it darker or is that the natural colour

natural color. the shaft feels really dense aswell. not like any ive ever seen or played with. almost doesnt feel like wood at times to be honest. even compared to other thai cues ive played with.

bob : Called up UT and he is very happy that you like his work. It's all came down to the 'generous' time that you have given to him in this custom work. He can only work out some 10-12 cues monthly, which now seems to be 8-10 maximum, and now he spends a lot more time looking for quality ash/maple for his cues. Brendan orders 2 cues and I have seen his 2 Ash shafts already, which will be as good as yours. The problem is the striped ebony wood for his splices work. UT don't seem to be 'absolute' happy with his current S/E stock and trying to get a better quality/pattern blanks for Brendan's work. He used to finish any order within 2-3 weeks time, but now extending to 4+ weeks. I calm him down telling to him that 'please take your time'. A good cue will be cherished and admired by player, and should last that player years of joyful games. He understands my telling and concern on delivering his 'best works'. With ready materials on hands, he can finish any cue within 7 days. Too bad, good woods are not easy to find these days, not even for a good ebony blanks, or ash, or maple, alone. Finally, thank you for trusting him to do your jobs (BTW, my avatar is a picture of a 'boy' and not a 'girl )
                                It's in the Shaft
