Dude,speaking from my little knowledge, if its just to clean the cue,don't even think about alcohol! Is it a varnish or oil finish? I'd suggest using a very fine grade sandpaper (1500-2500) to clean it if its an oil finish. That will not take much of the finish off, and it'll leave it as smooth as a baby's a*$ if you do it right! If its varnish, the detergent and water on a rag will do fine.. Just my humble opinion!
