  • How do you store your many cues?

For all those of you who have lots of cues, I am curious how do you store them?
Do you put them in a display case on the wall, all in their own cases, or just on the wall...

I usually have about a dozen cues at any time and mine are in double cases and tubes behind the tv .

I also wondered about this / have the same problem. All my cues are one-piece and I hate putting them in the cue rack with the other cheapies for fear of warping.

Some are stored in cases, but it will be quite expensive to buy a case for every cue, and others are laid flat in cupboards.

Bit unsure of what to do myself.

Yeah from reading the posts here it is obvious that many members own more than 10 cues, plus all the extensions and mini I was just thinking this could take up some serious room.
I dont like the wall rack because the clips where the cue is clamped to the rack sometimes can dent the shaft. I think if you have a big bin with partitions/dividers you can stand them all inside. Kind of like a large umbrella rack.
I am also wondering if anyone has built a display case to store and showcase their cues?

There was a collector recently selling on ebay who had about 5 specially made display cases made, i copied one of the pics to drool over edit: i think he had 1200 cues at one point

personally i use a mixture of a cheap rack & cheap aluminium cases

I have mine stored horizontal in tubes. If thats full then they are kept all in cases. I agree with you mate that i dont like keeping cues in vertical racks. Only time i put them vertical now is if im making a few and need somewhere to put them ive made a rack which is basically a two 2" x 2" pieces of pine with 10 20mm holes through on the top piece and 10 35mm half drilled holes on the bottom piece and the cue slides into the top hole and rests on the bottom hole. Its mainly because i have little space during the making.

The word "tubes" got me thinking - I used to buy that cheap white plastic lenghts of tubes (used for plumbing) and then put end-caps on them (also cheap and easily available) to keep my fly-fishing rods safe in the car.

Should be able to do the same to keep the cues safe. Stacking them horizontally will also have each cue lying straight in its tube - should work?

Done the same thing. I have them set in pyramids of about 15 and they have the end caps on that you get from fishing shops.

Hotpot Would the heat from the TV have any adverse effect? Maybe the case will provide some protection?

JRC750 Are those ally cases in the photo any good? They look nice. I've seen them on e-bay going quite cheap and was tempted to have a punt.

Hi BigMeek, the cases look good and are alright as long as you don't go out, as the black portion of the case is ... paper! Perfect for Scottish weather
They're great for storing cues in the house as you can pick them up cheap, but that's all.

I have a large plasma in the corner so theres about a two foot gap behind it , so the heat is,nt an issue mucka .

I didnt know they were paper looks like some kind of vinyl insert
Anyway they are perfect for storing cues in the house & quite cheap (i think i paid roughly £20 each not incl p+p) did use them for a while back & forth to club no problem - didnt rain tho i tend to use the rack when ime showing off the cues or just having a general cleaning session, but come bedtime the better cues go to sleep in cases
Got myself a better looking case now for travelling to club
