From what i read from the website a good 10 years ago, I think only the ultimate shafts are hand planed from a block from start to finish (shaft). The others are not, that includes the Paragon model.

From the website, no mention of different methods for the different ranges:

I think Parris cues are the best in the world. But then again I would say that. There are reasons though for this statement.

From the very start I spend many hours relentlessly selecting the best straight grained ash and maple for our shafts, From timber yards with vast stocks I only select around 5% of the timber I inspect and from this around 50% is rejected during manufacturing giving a tiny 2.5% yield making our shafts as perfect as possible, They are selected for straight grain, clean wood, density, rigidity, grain spacing and above all my personal test of feel, This is something that cannot be measured but that I have developed in over 25 years of experience. The shafts are tapered in gradual stages being left for long periods between each stage for the wood to settle.

I did mention that it was at least 10 years ago infact closer to 15 years when he had a very simple website without the fancy flash enabled cue builder stuff. I remember an ultimate costing less than £500.00 then, showing my age now!!! Parris said the ultimates were hand planed from start to finish. The classic range were pre-turned by machine into the desired shaft dimensions and left to settle.

If they were to hand plane all the shafts for all ranges of cues then I understand why it takes so long to get a cue. I doubt if that is the case.

What I do'nt understand is , if JP has so many shafts then whay people has to wait almost 2 yrs for a 3/4 cue .
No matter where those shafts come from . Very strange imo .
                  ( sorry , off the topic ).

Could they be rejected shafts? Shafts that were taken down but decided not up to scratch so rejected?

Not only that but with waiting times so long on all ranges, how can they have the time to produce the new 'Unique' range you can get from the shop?

I wouldn't wait a week for a cue let alone 2 or 3 years and anyone who think they're getting this too notch quality hitting better then everything else on their door steps seriously need to have a think because you ain't getting a better playing cue then what's on the Thai market and don't care what anyone else says.
Yes re-sale on English cuemakers is a lot better but if the cue is that good re-sale wouldn't even be in your thoughts. The way the cuemaker market has gone we are now defiantly in a society of the enthusiast rather then the serious players.

                            Yeah , good point .
If I was waiting 2.5 yrs for the cue i've orderd, I would be angry about that. It's not fair imo .
Anyway, sum strange stuff going on thr . That's for sure .
Let's hope for the best .
