Anyways going offtopic a bit there. Do you have to coat first with oil (linseed etc.) before coating with beeswax? Or can I just use beeswax like I've just been doing for the last 4 days?Watching the world go by...

Oh, and 'fraid to say that sounds about right about the dialect. A lot of accents have been watered down through the ages. When you enter the west midlands you drive through a very heavy fog and time stands still. Furniture is made from old coffins and people have spiky teeth. Or was that a film I watched the other night..Watching the world go by...

Theres probably enough links there to prove the black country accent is the oldest English still going . I has been proven I kid you not. We are probably the only folk that could understand Shakespears accent if he were alive today and he spoke much as they did when the doomsday book was written.

Hi Wity,
.............WOW, and what a great dialect, it's like speaking/writing in your own code, really like the idea of this.....
This is my first attempt at a little bit of Black Country dialect too, and not sure which town this could be attributed to?........
"Ow do Wity,
Aer Bin Ya?
Ar bin loffin
Tarra a bit, Ticker xxx"
[Found some info on the bbc website for the joke below, plus looked at some Black Country dialect word listings too, and hope I've transcribed it correctly, probably mixed it all up now . [Your text and sentences seem to flow together alot easier than mine.] Interested though, which town/borough you think the wording for the joke maybe from, and also the greeting/salutation.
.......Aynuk says to Ayli: "What yow bin doin?"
.......Ayli replies: "I bin fishin in the cut"
.......Aynuk says: "Did yow catch anythink?"
.......Ayli replies: "Eye, I caught a whale"
.......Aynuk (astonished): "Yow caught a whale in the cut?"
.......Ayli replies: "Eye, a bicycle whale"......
And must admit, didn't realise that the Black Country has such heritage as well, plus is made up of 4 main boroughs: Dudley; Sandwell; Walsall; and Wolverhampton.
............and at work now, so I've had to rush a little, , but hope it makes some sense, and knowing me I've probably tranformed something quite simple and eloquent into 'double dutch'.
Lol....xxsigpic
