New cue here but snapped in transit.

To say i am gutted is an understatment....cue arrived today but was snapped...! have sent the supplier a message to find out what i should do now...then i will contact parcelforce...

Ouch, hope it's not a custom one you have been waiting a long time for. Was it in a shipped in a strong plastic tube?

No thankfully its not a custom cue and yes it was sent in a strongish plastic tube..

Ouch, i just sent a cue off today but kept it in its case inside the box. Tubes should be all you need but some couriers seem to go out of their way to throw it about as much as possible.

I agree.

Tubes are fine but if the courier doesn't care can throw anything on top of them and they will bend.

I always put fragile tape on the tube to give them a clue.

Fragile stickers are like a bullseye marker sometimes. That being said my box had a couple on it as well

Back around 1985 or 86 when John Parris first became famous for making Steve Davis's trusty old cue into a two piece cue I had been working abroad and finally came back home with more money than sense and after reading about John Parris, I contacted him and asked him to make me an exact copy of Steve Davis cue but one piece. He agreed and told me it would take around 6 months........so I waited......and waited.....and waited......and finally John phoned me to tell me that my cue was ready and he was sending it Royal Mail next day delivery!! I was like a child at Christmas and the next day there was a knock on my door from the delivery guy with a cue tube in his hand that was obviously damaged as it looked like a Donkeys hind leg!! I have NEVER trusted any courier firm to safely transport one piece cues since and have always tried to protect tubes with wood or tied two tubes together.
I still have the smashed cue which was carefully glued back together by a clever friend and when I contacted John Parris he calmed me down and told me he would make me a new cue and that I would 'only' have to wait around 3 months.........!!
Like someone has already put on here......imagine ordering a Parris one piece Ultimate and waiting the best part of FIVE years for it and then a courier breaking it in transit!!

I'd rather make the long trip down and collect the cue. Unless it comes in an alloy case

Probably better to order an aluminium case with it, the likelihood of them breaking that is much slimmer.

I've had 3 Parris cues ordered over the years, first one in 1988 and they've all come with a 1x1 bit of ash taped to the tube.

That's not the case, I know everybody thinks that, but couriers do try and look after your stuff. But it goes in the back of a van with a ton of other stuff and the other stuff can fall over when the van goes round a corner or stops too quickly. Things can break by accident and the stress of trying to make a stupid amount of deliveries in a day to a stupidly accurate time schedule can lead to vans being driven a little erratically. I personally would never send or order a cue that was not inside a case.

I have seen them like this in alloy cases in carpet tubes etc - when they want to break something they do!

Must break your heart to open a tube/ case and see that. In general where do you stand when it happens, is it tough luck, or does it all depend on if the poster has it insured? If you paid by credit card I'm guessing you will be insured.
