  • Peradon Ascot

Hi, today I bought the 3/4 Peradon Ascot. I was just ondering what you all thought of Peradon, or the Ascot even?

It was 100 pounds all together, but I like Peradon so it was worth it.

Sorry if this post is useless.

Also, how do you store the cues?

Upright or flat on the floor?

Did you buy it online or in a shop.

The Peradon Machine spliced can vary a lot in shaft quality, and it's best to see and feel what your getting for your £100.

Yeah I bought it from my local sports shop. They sell some peradon 2pc and 3/4 cues.

Its a gorgeous cue, and the weight is perfect.

Peradon are good cues but in most of the cues the shafts are on the thicker side.

Does anyone know if Peradon cues or this model are all handmade?

Peradon do a mixture of Machine and Hand spliced cues to suit peoples budget

                  The Ascot is machine spliced.

Yeah its not hand spliced, but its got a great smooth finish to it. So I will be able to clean it with linseed oil, its great.

Hmm..I emailed Peradon about whether it is varnished, and they replied saying yes. But they said if I want to keep the finish, all I have to do is use the damp cloth then buff method.

So does this mean..to use the Linseed oil method, do I have to buy a handmade cue like Trevor White or JP?

This is just for in the future.

If u are not satisfied with 'damp cloth then buff method' then u can try using very fine sandpaper [1000 grit or more].That will definetly make the the shaft lot smoother. Then u should apply raw linseed oil to protect the shaft from drying out.Leave it overnight and use the damp cloth then buff method. This should do the job for u.
                          regards

its a nice idea to remove the varnish and refinish it in oil but the trouble with refinishing a peradon cue is exactly what will you find under the varnish! - dye maybe, painted on colours, it depends where it was made. who knows, also you don't know how far the varnish has penetrated the wood - i would only ever recommend a peradon cue from the cue wizard site where they are all made in liverpool and the use better quality woods ( http://www.cuewizard.com/ ) the site is is great fun for designing your own cue if you have never tried it! - i might give forum members a discount on that site if anyone is interested what do you think? 20% off for TSF ?
