You aren't doing anything wrong.
Just make sure you buff it up to get the excess oil off.
Danny
P.S. make sure you are using raw linseed oil and not boiled.
I ask because some time ago after about 4 coats of linseed oil I buffed it and it was nice smooth and dry at the surface. But after two days the surface of cue was greasy again...
So now I think I'll buff it then I'll put it overnight into some warm place to dry. Then I'll buff it again. What do you think?

Just keep buufing with a soft cloth of any kind until the oil stops coming out.
Dont leave it any where too warm though i.e. not near a radiator.
DannyDid you put my "1" up ?

I would advise as to use a lint free cloth, like a micro fibre or a glass tea towel cloth.Last edited by Jellibeen69; 21 April 2011, 08:26 PM.

Took pics as cue was, after sanding, then after waxing. Now had 3 applications, 1st one quite tough to apply as wax is hard, but next 2 used a bit of turps on the cloth as you advised which made it much easier to do. Struggling really to get any noticeable shine on the cue, never mind anything close to what you can achieve ??? Do i just keep applying it ??? Cue is lovely and smooth tho lol
Here is pic before i started
Here is pic after sanding down
And here is pic after 3 applications

just make sure that you don't put to much on. Also did you buff between coats? I used a glass polishing cloth I like the old towels. And then just give it some really elbow grease. Hs all about the friction that realigns the wax molecules to a uniform structure. thus giving it the high gloss. Also hew smooth and shinny was the cue before you started.?
