Well, Selby won it in the end, but congratulations to Shane Castle for playing fantastic and showing what a fighter he is. If he had a bit more experience he would have easily beaten Selby today.
Castle certainly proved himself worthy to be playing on the big stage and looks to have a great career ahead of him. I mentioned on a thread last year about who will be the next exciting talent and I mentioned back then he was one to watch. To think a year on and he's already made his TV debut in a big tournament, just shows how far he has come in a short space of time.
Castle put a couple of good breaks together early on, but after the interval it was only a couple of good shots here and there, and that's just not good enough to beat Selby. He also went for too many ambitious pots, so Selby didn't really have to work to get chances. Castle played much better than some of the other amateurs and lower-ranked players though, so I'm looking forward to seeing him again.
Selby will obviously need to improve for the rest of the tournament. Tian could be a good test for him in the next round, with Dott and Carter also lurking around in his section of the draw. Not to mention his bogey player Barry Hawkins later on, if they both come that far.
Selby has been and still is in second gear as he has not had to need anything better thus far but some of you getting excited is amusing
Wow, Selby only needed SECOND gear to beat 15 year old amateur, 128th seed Shane Castle?! The rest of the field will be shaking in their boots. The only thing that stopped Castle winning today was his lack of experience, nerves got to him, otherwise the snooker world would be rejoicing at him going home.
There are 4 matches being played atm including Bracel v Maguire, which I would quite like to watch. But although I pay for Liveworldsnookertv, eurosport and the BBC there is apparently NOWHERE I can watch any of these matches. Barry's doing a great job isn't he.

The fast and the furious,
The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!
So those 4 matches must be being played on the outside tables that have no cameras, seems strange not to using the main arena tables!!
The whole set up is **** poor, they could have done better with things, everyone spouting saying barry has revived the game, not by the looks of this event! dire
