Trump/Robertson are playing their 2nd session on at 1430 hours on the 30th and then they're right back on at 1900 hours for their final session. Why don't they just swap Selby/McManus's 3rd and Trump/Robertson's 2nd session around?
This happens every year on quarter-final Wednesday.

Basically, it's done so that there is a guaranteed full session in the afternoon. Otherwise the afternoon would be two matches to a finish, which for the audience is undesirable if they are both at, say, 11-5.

So they make sure that one match is in its second session.

      • I say it happens every year - I should rephrase that. It has happened every year since 1998. It is always the bottom quarter-final that finishes with the double session on the Wednesday; the third quarter-final finishes on the morning session.

Robertson season match win %: 70.5

O'Sullivan this season: 1 century for every 9 frames.

            Hendry 91/92 season match win %: 82.1

Out of all those stats the only one that means anything is the match win % , to borrow a phrase from Bobby George, scores for show ,doubles for dough, he can ,hit all the centuries he wants, his match win% is miles behind Osullivan and Hendry .

Well that would be really funny. Unfortunately I cán´t see that happening in a tournament of this length.

              • Neil as also played more matches, against a stronger top 32, so the match percentage will be lower!

Well I don't agree with that, I think snooker is quite poor just now, but even if that's not the case Osullivan is playing exactly the same people as Robertson, and I'm sure Hendry isn't much bothered as he sits back and reminisces about his seven world titles.

Disappointing to read this.. I didn't hear introductions tonight as I was in the pub for a pool match, snooker on silent, F'ing Football Cr@p on Sky Sports news on other telly with mindless idiots discussing licensed thuggery (as usual.... ) However, I doubt anything Rob Walker said was meant, or indeed taken by Shaun, offensively.

I bumped into Rob Walker the other night, and told him I had my doubts about him at first, as Alan Hughes was such a hard act to follow, but he's really grown on me. The enthusiasm he brings to each session is great and he really sets the atmosphere before the matches.

I also told Rob that his work on the Olympics and Paralympics was excellent. He said commentating on David Weir's 4 golds was of the highlights of his career. A really pleasant and approachable guy who is very knowledgeable about snooker and sport in general.

Leave the hating for the football terraces please guys..

He does sometimes vary the introductions with updated player results and relevant stuff like Dominic Dale's out-landish shoes, for example. I know there's always cliche's, e.g. 'a mountain to climb..' for when a player is miles behind, but he's really good at getting the audience up for the session.

                          • In regards to Robertson's century of centuries, I don't think there will be too much fanfare about it. I think most educated fans will know that the milestone is soon approaching as would the commentators. They would say something on the earpieces that will be picked up by the crowd and when (or if) he makes the 100th 100 there will be an applause a few decibels lower than a max.

I remember they did something similar when Higgins made the 1000th century at the Crucible.

Hardly hating. Rather it is about having an opinion, something that is increasingly frowned upon in this overly sensitive world.
