Nice ending to the Hendry-Gould match. Hendry really raised his game when it mattered, first that 120 clearance, followed by a good contribution with only the pink available. I think pink spot breakbuilding is a part of his game that is still world class.

        Once again Ordl, nice analysis.

Judging by history, the first full ranking event of the season usually brings up a few suprises. Looking back at the Shanghai Masters we've had the likes of Wenbo, Burnett, Walden, Day, Dale and Carter reach the final stages. Obviously the last two are or have been top 16 players, but I don't think they would be the first to spring to mind when predicting a winner. In saying that though, with the advent of new tournaments - Wuxi, World Cup and PTC, players now days have more match practice before the first full ranking event.

Not sure who I am going to go for, but I'll say Shaun Murphy for the win.

Hendry-Gould, yes a good match, Hendry loosing his touch (as some would say, like he does now-a-days), Gould having his chances but not on sparkling form, then Hendry coming back nicely, as said before, good work with the pink and blue.
But did anyone see (stay awake for...) Ebdon/McLeod? Ebdon 3-0 then I hear 3-5 Rory!? How long was the match?
            Up the TSF! :snooker:

What a frame for Selt to win. He was 40 points behind with four reds on the baulk cushion. And he only needed two visits to clear the table.

Mid-session interval at the moment. After a good first frame for Selt, it's been all Higgins, 3-1.

Well, what can you say... Dreadful snooker from Higgins in the last three or four frames, and Selt takes it 5-4, the biggest win of his career so far. It will be interesting to see if he can take out Hendry as well.

Huh what a bonus for Hendrz there in his attempt to stay in top16. And Higgins finally ran out of form- lost almost everything so far this season

Some shock exits so far: Higgins going out to Matthew Selt and Ali Carter losing to Marcus Campbell.
Gutted to see Martin Gould out already. But was a good match!
Hopefully Matthew Stevens will have a good run...

What's with this tournament starting right after that world cup tournament ? every player is knackered and jetlagged !

Quality of play has been quite poor so far. I'm only happy because it's all live in HD on foxsports in Australia

Incredibly lucky. We have to get up at 4am to catch anything decent.
