Congratulations to Peter Ebdon, displaying exceptional fighting skill to win the title. It's great to see him back at the business end of a tournament.
All the way Mark J!!
I understand nothing from snooker. - Dedicated to jrc750!
Terrific final again, like most this season. A bit of bad luck for Maguire in his early scoring chances, but that red that started Ebdon's key break was just tremendous. It's no surprise he held his nerve better in the end. Well done, the oldest winner of a ranking event since White in 2004, if I'm not mistaken.
This was a really good tournament, one of the most enjoyable this season.
Congrats Peter, have to feel for Stephen though, he's worked really hard. He didn't look too happy neither when he shook Peter's hand...could barely look him in the eye to congratulate him. And I think Peter felt it as well. Interesting to see the award ceremony later on, see what both players have to say about the final.
All 'n all I did enjoy it, albeit the final was a bit dull at times. Looking forward to the World's in 3 weeks time...seems like bit of a long wait, with so many tournaments nowadays See you all there...
It was a good tournament, but as with the World Open, I thought there was a distinct lack of atmosphere and character about the venue, yet another echoey warehouse affair.
Strange award ceremony, no PMIs and Maguire's runner up trophy was a toy car??
It was a very enjoyable final for me though, and well done to "The Force", his new Vegan diet seems to suite him.

All of us, glorious parts of the whole!
Well played to Ebdon, he played some really outstanding players to get there. Shows that it's anyone's games if you can make those tons, or in Ebdon's case dilly dally lol Although saying that he did make 4
Congratulations to Ebdon. I´m really amazed that he won the tournament. I´ve written him off as tournamentwinner one or two years ago. A shame Maguire lacks the bottle. He could have been the big name from his generation.

Congratulations to Ebdon. Just saw the highlights, as Eurosport wasn't showing the afternoon bit live, sadly. Spirited fightback from Maguire, but Ebdon took it in the end.
Not had any form for ages, so despite being a somewhat epic match, that's a big win for Peter.
Oh, it gets better... It was after Maguire's failed snooker escape. Ebdon had a ball in hand, with a possible long red. When he came back, he asked for the balls to be replaced.
I was watching this live earlier today on liveworldsnooker.tv. At some point during the 8th frame (one of those where the reds were scattered all over the table), Ebdon was 12-8 down and took a few minutes to decide on how to make the cue ball safe. The commentator (not sure who that was though -- not Clive Everton for sure) said something like: "Well...after much deliberation, Ebdon decided against the risk."
I thought it was absolutely spot on, and said it all about Ebdon.
Thank you, Peter Ebdon. I put a few quid on you after the second round victory over Higgins to win the tournament, obviously it was worth it. And well played.
Well played Peter Ebdon...... I can certainly say I did that coming, and it's great to see and it just shows every tournament is up for grabs cause the players a match fit with all the extra tournaments added to the season!!
Just a shame I was working all w.end and next got to see it, hopefully I can catch some highlights on Eurosport today!!
