What a way to lose for Gould... He's thrown quite a few matches away recently, there is a danger he becomes the next Stevens...

So, Hendry is lucky to get through, but ironically, I think he has looked more impressive than Robertson, so he definitely has a chance in the next round.

does anyone think that henry unscrew his cue and then continue to play is unsporting? unscrew the cue in a frame should be assumed as conceding my opinion.
      I wanna play more matches!

Not really. Perhaps it shouldn't be done, but no one could imagine Gould missing that match ball.

Neil's hair is naturally curly but he obviously straightens it most of the time for tournaments, apart from this one in China. I remember him doing it in the Championship League tournament one year too.

Should change his arena intro - hes dynamite, its Napoleon Neil Robertson

It's very poor etiquette from such a legendary player, he really should know better.

I agree. There's a lot of people on twitter going on that Hendry cheated, and he distracted Gould on purpose. Utter nonsense in my eyes. You could say maybe Hendo shouldn't have done it, should've known better. But, I don't think it was anyway malicious. Like you say, we all assumed Gould had it won.

I'd be interested to hear Gould's comments.

I've seen him do this more than a few times now, where his opponent has messed up, resulting in Hendry reassembling his cue, and then snatching an unlikely victory from the jaws of almost certain defeat.

                  Bit naughty I suppose. :devilish:

I only caught the last half, but enjoyed what I saw of it. The crowd seemed up for it, and they went ballistic when Gould missed match ball, seemed like a lot of Hendry fans there.

Did you see that girl run over and take Hendry's (I think) used tissues after the match!? They'll be on ebay tomorrow.

                  The slow and labourious,

How many times - when a match is all but over - do you see a player take off his bow-tie, or unbutton his waistcoat?

Players do it all the time. All that made today different is that a match ball that seemed unmissable was missed.

By the way - that final yellow by Hendry in the decider, which was kind of missed by commentary due to the drama of the moment, was an absolutely outstanding shot.

Cue ball near the side cushion and middle pocket, a medium-length deep screw from baulk onto the green (which had been knocked down table past the blue spot), under the utmost pressure, was sublime.

A few mistakes aside, it was "Great Scot" today.

Absolutely ridiculous to accuse Hendry of all people of cheating!! I've see so many players do that as well as undoing ties, shirt buttons etc!
I can't imagine Gould would accuse him of it either!!!

The point people were trying to make was, usually when people do that they are already 80-0 down in a frame, and are at a point when even if the opponent missed, they'd not come back to the table. It might add pressure to your opponent if you're doing it on match ball.

But still a storm in a tea-cup for me.
