Not exactly brilliant snooker in the last couple of frames. But Higgins was still pretty solid, while O'Sullivan completely lost his way. I guess he just lost confidence in his own ability after missing a couple.
Robbo's potting is so good he doesn't need to bother with positional play like the rest of the players. He laughs in the face of those who spend hours on the practice table perfecting their cue ball control! ~ Forman 2009 Grand Prix Fantasy Game winner
Do you have such good memory or did you look it up somewhere, Odrl?

I quickly looked it up from the 2003/2004 season backwards.
My memory is usually pretty reliable for the last couple of years, especially for players like Higgins, so I think I would remember if the played a particular opponent. But don't take if for granted.
Once again, Ronnie lost to Higgins when it mattered the most. His long pot success was only 27% or something like that. I could not believe it. He seemed to struggle for quite a long time already. He had quite a few chances to take over Higgins. But perhaps because of the pressure or the lack of focus, he missed some easy shots at the crucial moment such as the red at the middle pocket. In my opinion, he was not beaten by Higgins but himself. With this kind of long pot success and his lack of focus, I could not see him go far in the World Championship.
As somebody has said, he won 3 world championships, more than 20 ranking tourney and a lot of money. He made more than 500 century breaks and 9 max break in his career. But still he is an underachiever and he knows that.
Just really sad and disappointed. I just pulled off a full night for nothing.
Yet again John tought Ronnie a lesson and proved that he is the best player that ever lived. Tomorrow Ali will be an easy prey for John. I predict 9-3 with 6-2 after the first session.

You're not alone believing that they haven't met in the last couple of years, though.
And you make awfully hard quizzes, so I think we can trust you with statistics.

Hold on.. Isn't Alex Higgins the best player that had ever lived?
Or maybe you're talking in terms of being a match player? But it wouldn't be true that way, either. Steve Davis is the best match player ever, you know
All the way Mark J!!
I understand nothing from snooker. - Dedicated to jrc750!
Just found a more recent one. They played in the group stage of the 2008 Malta Cup. The result was 3-3.
I appreciate your efforts as it probably should be me searching for the info since I was interested in it.

Had to be done.
I think this will be it actually. They couldn't theoretically have met before the QF of any event last season, and I'm pretty sure I would remember a match between them at the business end of a tournament. So this must be their most recent MT match, and they haven't played a "normal" best-of-9 knockout match for 7 years.
