Like many have mentioned this week the pockets are playing very generously to put it mildly. Had he played on the table in China he'd have broken down about 3 times during that break as balls were hitting so far off the near jaw and dropping it was untrue, even down my club they would not have dropped.

Its a shame that conditions are so conducive to big breaks that it almost takes away some of the value of it but I suppose a max is a max and now its down in the history books but its certainly the easiest conditions Hendry has ever produced one in professional play.
    Id have to second that.

        ill third it.
All tournament balls that you would never expect to drop have been sneaking in, kinda odd considering world snooker insist the pocket templates are the same as theyve always been, i guess there are other factors that effect how easily the pockets accept the balls.

Once again, I agree just watched the replay and how did that red for 49 drop? still it did!
"It might not be on stats or titles but in terms of talent and the ability to play snooker erm......he's the best" Hendry's humbled words on Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Could be the pockets are generous but it' s free for everyone to make a 147 on those tables and so far no one did...so I wouldn't minimize it too much.
I saw that going differently in my mind

True but on the other hand I'd say that form wise only Hendry and Higgins look to be playing near the top of their game so I'm not totally surprised nobody else has come close to a 147 but the century count so far would disprove this so obviously something is awry.

They've been changing the cloth more often than usual this year, every couple of days I think, and the pockets always accept balls more readily on newer cloth.

Am I right Hendry is the oldest player to make one in professional play? (ignoring Joe Davis in 1955)

I'm almost certain Hendry is the oldest player at 40 to make a 147 in professional play.
