if you are a lower ranked player, financially, it is maybe sensible to score 147s from the start of the match. it guarantees you get a bag of money. reaching second round is merely a by-product.

they get something extra in qualifying stages too, but not that much (some 5-10k maybe). try checking global-snooker.com, there should be info on prize money.
