I haven't tried with real balls... you may well be rigth there! In which case the rectangle yields only 10.
Yes, a 3x7 rectangle will of course only give 10 bananas, but snookersfun's example for the 13 bananas is fine. Actually, snookersfun's was the only arrangement I had thought of for 13 bananas, so would like to see if anyone can beat it.
And the triangle of 6 rows (1,2,3,4,5,6) for 6 plums (or 12 bananas) is of course fine!
Congratulations to Monique and to snookersfun for their entries!

Abextra in now with one of her great smiley pictures Congratulations! (btw. Monique's was classed as modern art). Any more pics? All art genres welcome
Next round will follow tomorrow...
Is it too late for rounds 231 & 232? I have some stupid questions again...

Take an ordinary set of snooker balls. Place the cue ball on your nose, and the remaining balls on the bed of the table wherever you like.
Whenever there is a straight line of (2 or more) touching balls, in any direction, every ball in that line scores a number of points equal to the number of balls in the line.
Does it mean that only touching balls score? If there is a ball that doesn't lie in any line - could we just forget it?
What if I placed 14 balls in one line and the 7 remaining balls so that they don't touch any other ball? May I claim 14 bananas then? And in round 232 I could arrange a line of these 7 balls - will I have 7 plums? Why not?

Not too late! And your questions aren't stupid

Only touching balls score. If there are any balls that don't lie in a line, you can't just forget them - they'll score 0 points. And that means that you would only be able to claim 0 bananas and 0 plums.

As above, 7 of your balls would then score 0, so you would get 0 bananas and 0 plums.

What about the other 14 balls? Where are they?

Well, that's the most important thing. For that, you get a free orange, on the house.

Hehehe... thanks for the orange... very kind of you!
What if I arrange three separate lines of 7 balls? I still would like to have some bananas and plums!
For that, you will receive 7 bananas and 7 plums!
Congratulations, abextra, for being in the lead with the plums!

Btw, d_g, I miss Charlie, Gordon and little Oliver... how are they? Any news?
I'm not sure... I haven't heard from them for a while. They are still on their holidays!

Not lucky! And while you are on a roll, I'm sure you can get more than those 7 plums...
