Gosh, no wonder they only gave us a hawks eye view of the thing in their photo's, no disrespect but the finish looks horrible. As for the Peradon badge! Phfft.. Don't get me started! I would be pretty annoyed if that showed up ADR! :snooker:

at least once every couple of months i get the "oh these cues are so great" spiel usually with hendry uses one or something similar and i buy them to have a look and they are nearly always a let down.

as for the badge well clearly i can't leave that on!

I think that you should name and shame each and everyone that does it! Other wise more and more people are going to be wasting their money on inadequate cues. Although saying that it's not necessarily the cue makers problem if people are giving them pointlessly good reviews, maybe people should think twice before making out every cues great!

well review it you must ADR whatever your opinions....

Few things to comment on, the brass looks pants your right. Thankfully mine is a one piece and the ferrule is fine on mine.

The badge is a funny one, clearly a big issue. Mine was C brand 'made in Thailand' so again i didn't have this issue.

The butt on my cue (see review in my signature for pictures) also has what seems like varnish (or shallac if that's the right term). I presumed, not being a cue buff clearly, that this was to protect the butt more as they do get dirty etc quite quickly and the wood darkens. I wouldnt want the butt to darken on my cue so i suppose i don't have a problem with it. As you say i could get it refinished should i wish at further cost.

Well they stand to take a hefty knock of there reputation here, and well deserved too. Not great at all really.

i cannot appoint myself as judge and jury and every time i criticise a cue somebody comes on to the forum to tell me what a twat i am!

what matters is that the cue ages as one - nothing worse than a 20 year old dark ash shaft on a cue that looks a week old.

I have one of the C brand cues and also bought one for my Father.
They are both fantastic cues and the shafts and splice work is very good.
I did not like the wax type finish either and stripped this off and re-finished both the cues with linseed oil.
I also tidied up the brass work and changed the tips.
I don't think that you should really need to do this to a new cue and many people wouldn't want to or even have the ability to try this themselves.

I don't mind doing this as the actual cues are as good as any I have tried and it doesn't take long to tidy them up.

I notice the price of these has been going up a bit so the quality of finish should be as good as other Thai cuemakers. At the moment they aren't and need improve this area.

On the whole I would say that the 'C' brand cues are very good playing cues and If you don't mind removing the wax then they are still good value.

They need to get the fine detail better though to justify the price increase.
The splice work is very good so it is strange they don't have the same standard on the brass work.

I cant believe they sent a cue out to ADR with braswork in that condition and with a hooky badge....perhaps the person sellling didnt quite realise who they were dealing with. Not that it should matter but still, perhaps unclevit himself or Kwan would have done different.

its all very well if you can do it but what happens if you can't - you get a £50 bill form a cue maker to do it! the thing is thai made cues can be very good - the britannia steels i have had are good and the o'min's i have seen have been good and most mastercues are good the gbl cues are very good as are the phoenix cues, and all of these are in a similar price range.

I totally agree with you, especially now that the price has increased a bit.
It is more in line with the other Thai brands and the finish isn't nearly as good.
I had a very nice Omin Imagine that was really well finished, as good as any, but it didn't play as well as the C cue.

I would have no hesitation buying another one but others should take into account that they may need to pay to tidy it up.

This really shouldn't be required and is worth noting for potential buyers.

ADR, I take it you have contacted UncleVit? Definately want to hear his response. I hope it comes onto this thread and responds.

I suppose the finish is their choice, I agree its poor if you expect an all oiled cue but in the spec it does not state the finish. For someone of your ability, you can refinish it and shine the brass up so I would not be concerned on this.

The badge is big mistake, it doesnt say in the original post what the badge is. Could be a geniune error?

I have recently being emailing unclevit and he mentions that he has workers for him which used to work at a major supplier in the uk.

I suspect now that this was peradon. Has this been leaked before? Many / all peradon cues are no longer made in the uk?

The spec being wrong is the worst thing, either he has lied to gain a sale or the measurement tools they use differ in accuracy to ours.
