There has been no responce from ferret as yet.
Neil I think your right certain cues will need to be sold at a premium as they may be special in some way. Where you might see abuse is say someone buys a john parris ultimate and letting the raffel go on for months and months, possibley making thousands of pounds.
If I were to raffel my JP I would set the price before at the current valuation on the JP web site, I would add around £60 on top of this in case someone from oversea's won, this would cover the cost of any postage.
Using the lottery to draw your numbers is a good Idea, but limits the number of entrys and pushes up the price per entry and makes it unattractive.
Using the poll counter is a way that every one can see the number of entry and therefore can see how much money has been taken, of course this is open to abuse by spoilers.
I just checked the JP web site and at the current valuation the cue is worth new £300 inc vat add £60 for postage that means the raffel would stop at £360.
This means to enter using the lottry 49 method £7.35, this is quite reasonable
        360/49= 7.35

Great idea considering overseas' postage costs. I for one would definitely interested is a ticket or 2 given the chance and the specs were adequate.

So, is there going to be a raffle, or as cazmac likes to call it, a raffel?

Last night I was drooling over the "post a picture of your cue" thread. What was also obvious was the level of detail people specified the specs of their cue. To what extent is it then easy to hit the "Depends on the cue on offer" right. I take it that this vote also entails the specs to be correct for the ticket buyer.

If ferret doen't get back to me soon I am just going to start the raffel as soon as I collect the cue from H&O.

One problem i see here, it looks as tho you intend to raffle off that knackered JP cue you bought for £100 i think it was. I know you are getting it refurbished by H&O, BUT no way does that make it worth £360
I suggest its worth a lot less than that mate.
Its a good idea, but not one you should exploit

LOL, I wouldn't say the cue was knackered in any way. All it needed was a bit of TLC. You could look at it your way or you could also look at it as someone is getting a perfectly good cue for £7.35. I don't think you appriciate how good the shaft is on this cue (13 straight chevrons), also it is a least six years old and some would say before JP decline set in ( this is not my view). With the refurb of the cue, it will have set me back £140 plus my time and cost travelling to and from H&O to have the work done. If I was to sell the cue I have no doute that I could get a least £270 ( did I mention this is with extension and case) I would be a fool not to put something on for postage aboard, this just can't be helped.
Finally no one has to particpate, I understand your objections but do not agree with them and I sure many members will be only to willing to enter.
                      Good day to you Sir

I'm 99.9999% certain to hold a raffle for a cue in the UK would be illegal without a licence.
It would need to be drawn abroad to be legit although i dunno if ticket sales would also have to be made abroad or from a foreign website.

I rang him and he said it wasn't ready hopefully will pick it up next saturday.
I will have to use this cue until I get my new TW, then I will be putting it in a raffel, Ferret has not got back to me so he either can't be bothered or is waithing for the cue to be put in raffel and then pull the plug
, I'm sure will find out soon enough.

He is probably a bit busy at the UK at the moment . I think the raffle is a great idea . Only way the Mrs is going to let me get a new cue , as it's so cheap . I doubt she would believe me even if i was lucky enough to win it . £7.35 , she would probably think that the decimal point was in the wrong place ! i.e £735
