Have World Snooker outlawed BS? I can't think of any other reason other than folk have been brought up on brass and don't want to change. Strange.
You can say the same why ain't any Pros using a Trevor white or a Dave Coutts cue yet these makers charge an arm and a leg yet no pros use them, it just boils down IMO that players don't like change and sort of follow the leader so to speak. When players are winning comps around the world with Parris ultimates you can sort of understand why they buy them and stay away from other cuemakers. I think Wooldridge, white, Coutts etc are more for the enthusiastic club players who just love cues in general

    • supposedly, Walden uses a Coutts; and M.White, J.Jones, M.Campbell, A.Pagett use a TWhite cue; and Xiao Guodong uses a MW.
of course nothing like the number that use a Parris - the power of marketing than anything else
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

The others are not as well known as Parris , i bet there are a lot of pros who have never heard of M W or have heard of him quite recently in the last few years

You're probably spot on with that.

Good on them for thinking outside the box. Do any pros use a Glover or CJ Dean?

Cheers Dean, only twice the price of the cue then! I was lucky to get it for what I paid though. Big decision, I have an old wood cue so I'll have to think about it, I don't want to lose that feel I have, finding another old wood cue that I like would be a pain.

Just to throw the cat amongst the pidgeon's here. If blackspin ferrule is t he holy grail, then why is there no pro using it? Is a heavy ferrule really that bad? Only asking because I remember reading Jimmy White's biography and he repeatedly mentions this one cue with the big ferrule he used to borrow down the club because he could get so much more action on the cue ball with it.

The cat has already been thrown amongst the pidgeons, about 14 posts ago.

I believe that just as no 2 cues play alike , even same spec and looks, then the blackspin will suit some folk, and not others..

People aren't lying about preferring it ( why would they ), but I know others who don't like it.

You pay your money, you make your choice. . .

Thanks for your reply mate, but this just proves my point. When it comes to snooker (and I suppose cue sports in general) there seem to be no hard and fast rule about what works and what not in terms of equipment. Everything just seems to be a matter of personal preference. It's the only sport I know where this seems to be the case. In motor racing for example, 50 bhp more equals faster lap times, softer tyres ditto etc. Sailing, skiing, you name it where ever there is some sort of equipment involved there seem to be a more steadfast rule about what works and what doesn't. As an engineer it's a concept I'm really struggling with. Any enlightenment on that subject would be really welcome.
