How about four green veneers and four splices of Camphor burl? I would put my name on that cue straight away mate
Now that's not something you see everyday on a cue. I have been tempted with camphor before but its a bit of a b**ch when it comes to drying, similar to mallee, hence I've stayed away from using either. Very easy way to lose money. BTW were you thinking full butt or secondary splices?

Well if i'm planing off thick I use a normal vice and rotate the cue by 22.5 deg so that you an octagonal form and when it comes to the rounding part I use one hand to hold and rotate and then the other to plane.
