  • I don't think very best of Mark Selby or very best of Stephen Maguire will be able to hold on to Ronnie tomorrow..

Ronnie says he would favour Mark J if he were to be in the final, but added that he himself has some problems with two session matches..

First part agreed Ronnie, but a three times world and four times masters champion is not telling the truth in the second argument
    All the way Mark J!!

    • Yeah, a shame there had to be a loser. I first thought that red with the rest in the penultimate frame would cost Williams the match... Even in the two frames previous to that, O'Sullivan had the first chance and missed, the penultimate frame was the same story for Williams. But they both had a pretty easy table in the decider at one point. I don't know about that split by O'Sullivan... Were the plants on? Perhaps he should have had a look. But the chance Williams missed... Completely under hit that one.

This felt like the final for me, and it would have deserved 19 frames, but we have to remember that it was not the final. The biggest mistake O'Sullivan could make now is to think he is the Masters champion. I think that's what cost him the Shanghai Masters title against Walden in 2008. Confidence is great, but you can't let it transform into recklessness and underestimating your opponent.

        • Who of the commentators is always shouting that "oh, where's the cue ball going!??" anytime it's getting somewhat closer to the pocket? Have heard that quite a few times now, and he never got it right in my eyes, with that not huge amount of BBC streams I've seen. Does he want his voice to be there just in case they repeat the match or someone puts that on youtube?

          • I'm not going to watch Selby-Maguire tonight. I don't want to break this picture of supremacy in my mind for at least a night

This match has drained all energy away from my body, wow, but I still love it
            All the way Mark J!!

I wouldn't exactly say he has "problems", but one thing that can be said about him and finals is that he sometimes plays a good afternoon session, gets a 5-3ish lead, but is then pulled back early in the evening. I can think of quite a few such finals, last year's Masters being the perfect example. Still, until I see the second match tonight, I have confidence in O'Sullivan for tomorrow.

I thought Higgins would have not forgiven such a split

And yes, that red at the start of before-the-final frame was too risky to take on... I think Ronnie did more such mistakes (played too risky stuff) today. And that's why in a way it's really strange he ended up winning - with the way Williams was playing today!
(Like how many frames were won just after a single mistake by either of them?? It was so bloody dungerus to make any mistake, at any time).

montoya10> best Selby would win against this Ronnie. Well in case some snooker gods don't interfere with 3 flukes per frame. But Sleby it's not his best at the moment it seems

...has Ronnie's long-potting got somewhat better?

it could be Ronnie's ex posting under a different name, maybe he missed his CSA payment this month?

                        • I'm sure that the second semi final will be very high quality match. Selby feels very good at this venue, and Maguire is after all 2nd in the official rankings, so he can put up some good performance.

I dont know, let me see, would be nice to see somebody win who actually gives a toss as to whether they win or not

it appears he gives a toss - check last frame after potting the brown.
                              he's such a liar!

                              • That and the fact that as I am attending tomorrow, he is the last player I want to win, in fact any single other player on the tour I would prefer to win an event.

And also if he wasnt in the final, perhaps the complete idiot who slow handclaps virtually every single pot that ronnie makes would stay at home
