    It is easy to call all of Judd's misses signs of him cracking and all of John's misses as bad luck but the fact is there is huge pressure on both players and they will both miss

    John has a lot on his shoulders, he is representing a generation and knows this is a whole changing of the guard moment in the sport

    It could start a decade of domination by Ding, Robertson and Judd pushing Higgins, Williams even O Sullivan down the ladder
    Right the last frame was one that John Higgins normally would have taken in one visit plus Trump was handling the safety battle better, which in the end got him over the line.

    • Well said cally and Rane. Some do not like to see youngsters doing so well. Youth will always come through.

      • It seems to me Higgins has not played his best today, but has had much better run of the balls. Trump hasn't played his best either, but he's still 10-7 up. Generally in long matches the luck evens out, so I'm looking forward to Trump stepping things up tomorrow. Imagine what he could do with the luck on his side.

          I agree that both players were not at their best today, but Higgins was absolutely terrible by his standards. No doubt Trump will crush Higgins if he produces snooker like that again, but if John finds his A game he can still win this, and that's even if Trump plays well.

            • Ive been out tonight playing rather than watching, so have been reading all the write ups etc of the session and came across this on BBC website;
              "After a messy frame left Trump ahead on 8-7, the desire of Higgins to continue the fight seemed to dwindle when he surprisingly conceded with three reds left, only trailing by 51. With enough points left on the table to force a re-spotted black, Higgins was fined £250 for opting to concede"
              Do i take it the reds and colours were all in awkward positions or something ? and did he get told straight off from ref thats he's fined, or is it just a rule that is known to the players ??

                The black and pink were tied up on the side cushion. When he tried to develop them, a red went over the pocket and was virtually unmissable. That's when he conceded.

                  • Higgins' early concession was not commented on at all on the BBC TV coverage. I didn't notice it myself, and in the circumstances it seemed perfectly reasonable. There needs to be some allowance for discretion in the application of this rule.

                      • Higgins got fined for conceding that frame? The red was hanging over the pocket.. what the hell??? Absolutely ridiculous.

                        • i think thats harsh given the circumstances pink and black tied up and the red over the pocket... with the balls judd knocks in he wasnt going to miss it. I heard jan say something to john and john smiled on his way out the arena at the end of the frame so i thought it was a joke or something not a fine.
