    "Break" as in... my cue!?

    What a night!
Only had time for a Bestof-5 Frames between work and dinner.
I usually am pretty controlled and calm about matches but my mate won the first two frames in such a maddening way ... there's getting "the run of the balls" ... fine... but this was "the run of the BULLS"
like in Pamplona. So many fluke pots and unintended snookers everytime I looked up at my mate he had his hand up apologetically looking like the Queen waving.
It was so infuriating another friend and seriously good player, noticing my dire distress, came over gave me a hug and said ...
"I hate it when by all rights I should have won and didn't because of that crap".
He handed me a tissue. I dryed my tears.
Actually, I got a steaming hot (from a espresso machine) paper towel wiped down the (blood), sweat (and tears) from my cue and mind... I screamed "RIGHT!" silently to myself.

The next frame I ran 72 to win.
The next frame 34 + 56 breaks to win.

A phonecall prevented the start of the deciding frame...

    ... to be continued

    =o)

Superb Noel! We must play one day. Mine was a modest 38 although I only managed 7 frames last night.

        Heres a controversial one....

I was playing so terrible all day, one of those days it just wasn't happening, couldn't pot couldn't time the ball well. I was doing the line up and suddenly it all came together (for ten minutes!) I was on 21, missed the black, fluked it in the other pocket, then carried on to make 34...

Now is my highest break still 17, 21 or 34

P.S after the ten minutes I turned terrible again

I have times when it just doesn't seem to be working, then all of a sudden I start seeing the shot, can't explain why, I just instictively know in my head, and I'll go and knock in a couple of 50s or something. Then it'll just go again. So frustrating :/

            Thanks Mate!
Ya... I felt like Shaun would've had he come back to tie John!
Be great to meet you Roy... play a few and get the benefit of your good coaching!

Haven't played this week but equalled my highest break this year last week with a 45. It would have been at least 51 but my playing partner said I touched a red with my stomach whilst leaning over to pot the pink.

Considering my highest break ever was made 29 years ago (77) and having ony started playing again last year after a 20 year absence, I'm absolutely delighted. I'll make a 50 soon, really confident about that

                That's GREAT!
I was in the same boat as you Mikey... exactly.
I came back to playing to help get my son involved and I got re-hooked!
I'm not as good as I used to be * but in the the process of getting there with the help of some really patient and talented players I may in fact be BETTER for the coaching! My goal is TONS!
I know you can do it too!

BTW... are you the git who got "my" birdseye Trevor White cue?
                The one I really wanted?!?!?

                Cheers!

                    Hi Noel

Yes,it feels great to know I can play to at least some sort of standard, even though the old eyes may not be so good these days(not that they were much good in the first place!).

Yes, I bought the TW cue. It's a real shame but I just can't seem to play well with it. It feels good and looks stunning, maybe just a little too long for me, not sure. I'm playing with a Mike Wooldridge custom cue now and just can't put it down. Way too good for my standard of play but I feel comfortable with it and it gives me every chance I guess.

So yes, I listed the TW one on Ebay. If you want it then either bid or make me an offer, I'm not expecting to get what I paid for it. Not too fussed as I was lucky enough to pick up the Wooldridge one really cheap and seriously doubt whether I'll ever use another cue.

This is it if you're interested. Cheers, Mikey

I've played three short times this week and had 45,49,53,73. I'm really improving, I think less than a year ago my highest break was 36 and now I'm getting a 50 almost everytime I play.

I played what was by far my best single frame of snooker today, i broke off and my opponent missed a long red, i made 51 before running out of position and playing safe thinking wow this is going well, then my opponent missed again and i made a 68 and only missing on the final pink

normally im pretty chuffed if i can make a break over 40

this after a shocking perfomance in my league match this week, 6 frames and i didnt even look like making a break over 20
