Tiger just basically told you the same thing. It is the construction stages you want to make sure everything is done right. I have given you a link for the Energy Shield and with this all joints are also taped. R50 in the Attic or at least R40. I have attached a photo of my home. All exterior walls R29, CFL and LED Lighting this home cost less to heat and cool then homes half the size of mine.

Les, very few timber frame builds in the UK all brick stone or block, I don't think you can even get a mortgage on a timber house in the UK. Oh and for $600K you would get an empty plot around here lol

there are many frame builds (mostly self builds) but still most are still brick/block

Stick that house in London Les and you would be looking at tens of millions sterling, what's 600,000 Canadian? At a wild guess you could get a broom cupboard for that in the posh parts of London.
