How long it is since at least one player ranked 1-8 in the world has not been in quarterfinals of ranked event? Has it happened ever?
I'm sure there was a world or UK championship around 5 to 10 years ago where the seeds were falling like rain. I'll try to work out when it was, or at least which tournament!
It would be a huge boost in confidence for him but I'd like to see Williams win. It would be great for a Welsh player to win this on home ground.
Yeah I echo that. The support seems to have been great and a lot of Welsh players came through the rounds. Plus it would be great to see Mark lift a title again...but then the same goes for John.

I like to see Higgins, Williams or Waldon win. Guys who have not had a win for a while. It would give them a lift and a bit of much needed confidence. I think Higgins will beat Maguire today. Mags has beat him the last few times they have played but that has got to change sometime and Higgins is in dire need of rankings for the worlds. Nip and tuck 5-4 higgins.
I'm also looking forward to Fu and Williams as that could be a cracker. It will be good to see some new faces on the TV tables for a change anyways. The one TV table over the past few tournaments has been snide. We have missed some great games in the German masters and other interesting ones here.
I'm very glad to see Eurosport will air both sessions (completely) today, and I'm taping everything so some good snooker to look forward to later on when I get back from work. I also taped yesterday evening's session (MJW). Lots to catch up to then
Btw I see Eurosport will only air the evening's session on saturday I assume there is an afternoon's session of snooker as well on saturday with 2 semi finals to play?
