I think that is going to be pretty common - i think the quality of blue diamonds is not what it once was.

I've used blue diamonds for about 2 years (i used to compress it for about 6 weeks before using it to get it hard & smaller in thickness) but have been using talisman pro tips (Hard) for the past month or so, took me a week to get used to but they've been playing really well, i don't need to sand or reshape the tip as often as i used to with blue diamond

the talisman hard are very hard eh! - too much for me, although a lot of the top players like them, i find them great around the black spot but impossible to generate any large amount of screw or stun.

well ronnie o'sullivan appears to be able to generate plenty of spin with one!! might his cloth and / or technique though! for me i will stick to the soft version its plenty hard enough! i am told the hard ones last even better though so its good if you can use it!

That was actually the reason why i've started using one, i was a bit tired with having to change tips every 2 or 3 months, by the time i get used to playing with one, it's almost time to retip so hopefully, this one will last close to a year like i've been told
I totally agree that the cloth makes a big difference & definitely Ron's technique & follow through helps

Elk master are an excellent all round tip especially good for those who use a lot of screw and side in their game. For example - players like Peter Ebdon,Neil Robertson.I personally prefer Elkmaster bcoz I use lot of deep screw & side in my game.It all depends on ur style of play.
Ronnie has got an exceptional cue power so he can afford to use the hard tips but players like Stephen Hendry & John Higgins who don't have the cue power like Ronnie use elk master & the latter uses a talisman pro soft.My deep screw shot

hi Craig
particularly well. i rarely play snooker, but play pool mostly...
like a lot of hard(ish) tips, they can be troublesome for holding chalk, but if you take care when putting it on, and also ensure you chalk regularly...
theyve had bad press for being a little inconsistent, but ive rarely had a bad one, and ive fitted loads of them to different cues (9 ball and "english 8 ball/snooker cues).
great for spin IMHO, and play constant, and last a bit longer than elks or bd's, so all in all, they are my favourite.
