That was just really weird. There was an intro on Eurosport Germany I hadn't noticed the past days, probably as I only checked in on the TV a bit later. I don't know it this is always there and if it's also on Eurosport UK and BBC, but it was just a short clip of "great champions of the crucible" as the commentator called it. It featured (in order) Ray Reardon, Alex Higgins, Steve Davis, Stephen Hendry, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Mark Selby and Judd Trump (as the defending champion). It's so weird that they wouldn't include John Higgins there - a four time world champion! Pretty terrible.

That would make Ronnie’s odds around 1/100 to win. Would you waste a grand on Ronnie to win 10 quid?
If they are offering cash out on Tep it might be worth a punt if he wins the first couple of frames then cash out.Last edited by Danger Steve; 3 August 2020, 09:10 AM.

I find that warning for flipping the bird as appropriate as I find flipping the bird unappropriate. This is the World Championship of Snooker... show a little class, gentlemen
Great win for Kurt, though. I thought Dave looked quite shaken during the last frames, I expected him to handle the pressure better..."That pocket moved!"

Well, Alex was the Ronnie of his time, he surely boosted the popularity of snooker like almost noone else did. I wouldn't say this of John Higgins, with all due respect...
By the way: Ronnie looked great, if keeps that form and determination he might just win his sixth."That pocket moved!"

But I'm afraid Ding won't take him out this year. Ding's confidence against King didn't seem even high, I think it will be worse against O'Sullivan.

I notice the sound guys have sorted out the canned applause. At least it now sounds like it’s coming from a live crowd in the arena, rather than someone throwing a wet rasher of bacon into a hot frying pan."Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"

I quite enjoyed the Yan-Slessor battle, even though both players really struggled to put anything together for most of the session. My mother wasn't quite as appreciative though, saying that all four players who played today should be thrown into a pile of manure for their performance.
