dott put his fist in pocket to stop white going in off, and selby come to table and moved white to "D" and ref called foul,,,,.....
Because the white never left the table.... it was dott's fault and he should not have put his fist their to stop the ball.... in snooker club maybe, but not in the wc's ffs....
What's going on with the Dott-Selby match? There was a load of chat.
I have no Sound.
Very strange one.
Dott played a safety and the cueball was heading in-off into the green pocket. He put his fist into the pocket so that instead instead of dropping into the pocket the cueball bounced off his fist and towards the D. Chamberlain called foul 4, but didn't move the cueball.
Mark came to the table, and thinking Graeme had gone in off he picked up the white to move it to a better position within the D. Chamberlain called a foul on Selby for touching the cueball, on the grounds that since it never left the bed of the table (albeit due to Graeme's hand), it was not in-hand for Selby.
Concensus in the commentary box (Neal and Clive) was that while the referee was technically correct he should've informed Mark that the cueball was not in-hand. The bigger picture is that a rule which allows the player going in off to gain an advantage by knocking the ball of course is IMO pretty bogus, not that it was Graeme's intention to do so in this case.
If i was dott i would have played the white ball straight into a pocket when i came to the table after the ref had called foul on selby.
selby would then have ball in hand like he should have had in the first place.

I know what you mean, but the stupid thing is Dott might then have faced disciplinary action.
For what it's worth Dott did appear to agree with Selby, but once the referee had made his decision I can't blame Graeme for taking advantage, just as Selby earlier made a century from a fluke on a botched safety. It's just what you've got to do as a player.
(That said, given the situation of the table the whole thing was inconsequential. There was only a safety shot available for Dott, and Selby went on to win anyway).
10-6 is very dissapointing given his start to the session. Lets hope theres a repeat of the monday night session from last year tonight. Can't believe its a year since that match.

I still give Dott a chance but he's going to have to win the first two tonight to put some pressure on Selby and give himself any chance of winning. That's not going to easy against the likes of someone like Mark Selby....but with Dotts grit and determination it would be foolish to rule him out!
