  • I would love to just have all of these minor problems. With my game (xbox 360) it has corrupted my save file 4 times already! And judging by what has been said on here I shouldn't expect a patch or solution anytime soon! Great! I was really looking forward to this and now I'm extremely dissapointed! Pile of crap

yeah I think I've only p;layed the game once since I bought it and I bought it on the basis that I thought they'd sorted out the controls they won't be fooling me like that again

          • I having rented it like it so far apart from the issues I have already mentioned 300 times. DE has confirmed in an ealier message there would be a patch.

If thats just words then bye bye to me from renting or even buying another game from them.

              • Right having played this on rental and being a newbie to snooker games. I am enoying this. The right triger button helps and should not be disabled. If u dont want to use it just dont.

The game needs major patching still. If this happens then good.

Im sure the cpu mises balls and times and nothing is called. And on the ps3 version the cue through the ball at times is just not on.

                • I'm loath to sift through 63 pages, so apologies if there's any relevant links in this thread, but can anyone please tell me where I might find some decent gameplay clips online? I've managed to find a couple - a very shaky one shot using a mobile phone, and an official one that doesn't really demonstrate the gameplay in any real detail. I've also found the official trailer, of course, but this isn't really what I'm looking for either. I just want a simple and straight-forward clip of decent length that shows a frame being played in real time.

                  • Well despite my last post I've just spent the last half an hour scanning through most of the 63 pages. And my conclusion? I won't be buying this. Like any review it's the bad ones I take notice of, and I've read enough to know I'd be dissapointed and taking it back to the shop for an exchange within a day or two.

I've also been very dispointed by DarkEngery's responses. Like any representive he's choosen to completey ignore the bad reviews and has continally refused to answer the 'awkward' questions that highlight the game's (seemingly) endless faults and bugs. He keeps going on about the super slo-mo and ability to 'rewind' time - is there any real snooker fan out there who cares about these things? So, you're proud of your new fatures, but not embarrassed or concerned about the important things you've neglected, such as the table having no spots (making break-building nigh on impossible) and worst of all, doing away with the ability to switch to the overhead TV camera after taking your shot so that you can see how your shot pans out.

My conclusion from all this is that the people behind this franchise for the last five or so years have very little understanding about the game of snooker, and even less interest.

Although this latest versdion is disappointing I will say the graphics are very polished and the rewind time does help in the situations where you may make a mistake so in a way that is good I think we all just wish they'd implemented all these things better than they have as I think this latest version could well see thos franchise be taken off DE

                      • Well in the end I decided to trade the game in and get something else (got £24 for it in Game BTW).

I just don't like the mechanics of how you set up a shot then just push a button to take it, it completely destroys the feeling of immersion. I'll come back to the series when, and if, they implement proper cueing with the analogue stick.

All computer cue sports games should have "proper cueing with the analogue stick" or mouse. Links on the old XBOX did the swing in the same way so it can be done.

Virtual pool still works on DOSBOX and by the way so does VP2 ;-)

Any of the Virtual games emulate fine on DOSBox. Virtual snooker still ranks as the greatest snooker game ever made, in my eyes. Making a break on that was some major achievement, and offered a feeling of greatness that this tripe will never match.

All these pages in and DE still haven't even hinted at helping the real players. I haven't played the game in over a week. I used to LIVE on the last gen versions, and have lost count of the the hours spent knocking in balls on my humble Xbox.

You really dropped the cue balls, fellas.

Just tried Virtual Snooker in DosBox and it works sweet.

Well that's one area I'm glad they haven't forced on the game. Trying to judge the power with the analogue stick has been virtually impossible since they introduced it.

Although I haven't played this latest installment it seems from the reviews and what little gameplay footage I can find that the area that would frustrate me more than anything is the camera angles used. They need to make thier mind up whether they want gameplay to be from a 1st person perspective or as though you're watching yourself on television. With this installment it seems to be a horrible mess of the two. TV style works best in my opinion, and the 03/04 games came pretty close to accuratley representing that. Please address this next time around - it really isn't difficult to get it right. Study the BBC's coverage closely. Note which camera angles are used and the point at which they switch between them, where the score banner lies, how it looks, etc etc. I've said this before, but it's obvious to me that for the last five or so years the makers of this series do very little research of the real game.
